Situated in the heart of the historic centre of Sanlúcar, on the border that divides the “Barrio Alto” (High neighbourhood- the Old Town) and the “Barrio Bajo” (Low neighbourhood- new town), “La Cigarrera” is a working wine cellar covering a total area of 1637 sqm, consisting of three naves (Bodega de Colóm, Bodega de Cabral and Bodega de Samilla) that adjoin a beautiful central andalucian patio. Until 1998, the wine cellar was exclusively ededicated to the whole sale of wines. Following certain changes in the regulations of Denominacion de Origen, the wine cellar began to bottle its wines under the label, "La Cigarrera".
Covered by the Denominaciones de Origen “Jerez-Xeres-Sherry” and “Manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda”, “La Cigarrera” is a wine cellar of aging and shipment where the traditional rules employed during the process of making and aging of its wines are applied rigorously.
